Description

An original 1st stereo press of "My People.." on the UK Zonophone label from 1968. Matrix 1G/1G - 1st cut. Stampers 1G/1M  - which places this pressing within the 1st 2,000 copies ever pressed. Labels are consistent with 1st pressing and still show the 'Sold In The UK..' statement. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L stereo cover with flipbacks and pinched spine. Also included is the thick-paper lyric sheet and a generic white inner from the time.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Remember, on these early Bolan albums it's all acoustic..you're going to need a supremely well preserved copy to do these masterpieces real justice. The audio is to die for...I imagine the fact that it's well preserved is a big part of it, but it must also be because this copy is so close to the original master. It really feels like you're in the studio...Interference is largely absent and you'll struggle to find to find a cleaner copy. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side, and perhaps one single errant isolated tick. A beautiful player....a piece of history really...
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has really been looked after. The front is beautifully shiny and flat with just one thumbnail crease, and a couple of minor stress creases at the edges. The rear has escaped the worst of the ageing process and just exhibits just a touch in places - overall very impressive. All flipbacks are intact and secure. Edge wear is light and the openings still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) No splits or markings.
Lyric sheet (Ex+) Pretty much faultless without ageing.
