SUPREME 7"

UK, CatNo: SUP 211, 1970

A: HUGH ROY

supposed to be DELROY JONES a. k. a. CRUTCHES

    DOUBLE ATTACK

(Total wickedness on this early DeeJay-chune credited to Ewart Beckford better known as DeeJay-daddy Hugh Roy...not sure if these credits are right...sounds slightly different compared to U Roy's Treasure Isle-tunes from this period...thought this could be even U Roy junior a.k.a. Froggy...but was told today (19th of November '10) it's infact Delroy Jones a. k. a. Crutches...who, although relatively unknown even amongst reggae-specialists, is one of the unsung heroes of early DeeJay-ing...an extremely versatile artist who recorded a lot of great chunes, even under the aliases of Crutches and Little Youth...including "Donkey Scank" (another one for George Murphy), "Don't  Take Your Guns To Town" (for Winston Edwards),  "Ital Stew", "Musical Hop", "By 7", "Barble Dove Skank" (for GG's) and "Guiding Red"as well as a couple of killer-tracks on the super-classic "Java Java"-album from Randys...one should make a discography on this artist...anyway...this record up for auction is a killer version of the Tennors' mighty high "The Stage"...and the DeeJay's in top-ranking styleee...a-ha...o-yeah...1970 original press on Pama's Supreme-imprint...from the UK...produced by George "Tennor" Murphy...watch out...and watch out for my other items...soundfile on request...just send in your email-address!!!)

B: MURPHY ALLSTARS

    PUZZLE

(Not simply an instrumental-cut but a sweet organ version on this side...very funky...could be Neville Hinds...or even Mr. Winston Wright...not sure about...anyway...definitely one for the dancers!!!)

ORIGINAL PRESS (NOT A RE-PRESS!)

FEATURE: COLOURS OF JAH RAINBOW

WAX'N'SOUND:  ex / ex, both sides show hardly any general wear, has full shine, plays great w/ big big punch, pop-a-top sound!

LABEL: shows lightest (if any!) general wear, NO writings/markings, NO damages - watch the scan, please!

" REGGAE - SKA - ROCK STEADY - ROCKSTEADY "  Something 'bout Sound + Vision: We shouldn't rely on visual appearance alone (as pretty looks isn’t all as they say) - therefore these records are graded after their visual appearance and their sound quality! I personally prefer a record with crackling but strong sound + punch to one playing clean but with surface noise from the pressing (as we find with re-pressed discs - too - often). Grading records is a very subjective thing but I try hard to be objective as a human being can be (yes indeed, this seller is a human being).   THIS IS MY VINYL GRADING SCALE:   EX (= really great - EX means "excellent", really...) VG (= nice, if you don't have an excellent one - by the way: VG means "very good"...) G (= playable, but you might find a better one - G means "good", but this term may be a bit euphemistic to reggae-vinyl-novices. Be realistic: a record graded G doesn't jump nor stick, but that's the best I can say about it...) P (= just a collection-filler for the hard-edged + hardest-boiled collectors + selectors + all the rudegals out there - P stands for "poor", yunno...)   MORE REGGAE RECORDS FOR SALE
