Description

U-2 "Out of Control" 12" single, CBS 12-7951, 1979, Ireland
This is the first U2 release, "Three," released for the Irish market by CBS in 1979 - one of two CBS releases before U2 moved to Island Records and found success.
Track listing: A: 1. Out of Control B: 1. Stories for Boys      2. Boy/Girl
-It is misprinted "Record mfd. in Irelnad" on both sides (even though the generic CBS labels says "Made in England" around the rim)
-Band members names are etched into the dead wax on the B side
Martix runoff markings:
A: CBS 12-7951 A2        DOCS (followed by illegible initials, presumably of engineer) B: CBS U23 B-1      BANG   BONO   ADAM   THE EDGE   LARRY     CBS 7951 B
Does this mean the record is a first pressing on the B side and second on the A side? I'll leave that up to you, super-sleuth!

Vinyl rates G+ on A side and VG on B side. Both sides have numerous light scratches, but there are also a couple of deeper scratches, one of which is clearly audible for a couple of turns on the A side.  Since all three tracks are fairly loud, the surface noise is not overpowering, but it is there, and is audible, and you will hear a scratch or two. Disc does not skip - not even close. It's still overall a very enjoyable play, well worth listening to, with a lot of miles left on it (kilometers?). Whatever units of measurement you use, rest assured that this is a very rare record and it still plays quite well!
Jacket is plain yellow to red fade and rates VG due to ring wear, edge wear, some slightly creased corners, and 2" of seam splitting on the spine.
