Description

The green-vinyl edition of "Rev-Raptor" is limited to 200 copies!!!

In a nutshell what we have here is a version of Accept with modern recording and production. And that's no bad thing to be honest.

With the plethora of new heavy metal bands in their various guises it's refreshing to hear something from one of the originals that set the tone and style - and understand why Accept were so good. Which is mainly that they are better than most of the newer bands that have popped up.

Okay I hear someone say, 'This is U.D.O not Accept.' And to that I'd say it's bloody hard to tell them apart. However there are some differences that are noticeable when comparing UDO to the brand new Accept. U.D.O have of course the incomparable and I suspect slightly odd Udo Dirkschnider as the main man whose vocals really are unique. I don't think that he would win any awards for his voice but they really suit this traditional heavy metal sound. The real Accept have a new and excellent vocalist who sounds like an UDO clone - but just isn't quite there. They however have the original guitarists and that makes a difference.

Here's the difference. Accept are heavier and have a sharper sound. U.D.O are of course heavy and the musicians are younger and should be heavier but aren't. The new Accept album blows your socks clean off whereas this reminds you that Udo has a great voice, not that its a great album. In some ways Rev-Raptor comes across as lightweight when doing a back to back comparison with the new Accept record.

However it is very good and it is a proper heavy metal in the most traditional sense. I recommend it to anyone who was brought up on 80's heavy.
