Description

Available for auction is a very strong copy of one of the earliest stereo recordings for UK Decca (June, 1955 at the Redoutensaal, Vienna). Featuring performance of Mozart's "Le Nozze Di Figaro" (The Marriage of Figaro) as performed by the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Erich Kleiber, featuring Siepi, Della Casa, Gueden, Corena, Danco, Poell, and Rossel-Majdan.

Original, first edition pressing with Wide-Band Grooved labels and stamper numbers as indicated below. Includes all original box, liners, libretto, and synopsis document with photographs. These matrix numbers are among the earliest for this title ever available for sale. Includes original, SXL stereophonic box as is appropriate for this early edition.

Box - EX+ (minor wear, strong structure, lamination separating on edges of front, foxing on box edges and corners--see photographs)

Libretto/Synopsis - NM- (minor creases, discoloration)

Liners - NM (minor creases, very strong condition)

Discs - Vinyl ranges in condition from NM through EX+ with faint sleeve marks, very few faint spindle marks, light dust; side 5 and side 6 EX with visible marks that cannot be felt with the finger.

Having received many inquiries regarding condition and grading for this item, I have play tested the vinyl discs and will better describe the box condition. See revised information below.
