In 1992, Rockville Records released the 2nd and 3rd studio efforts by the founding fathers of the genre now known as 'alt country'. Uncle Tupelo was one of Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Jay Farrar of Sun Volt's first bands. It was their love of traditional country music as well as all things punk that propelled the revolutionary spirit behind this seminal band. It is well known that "Gun", the opening track of "Still Feel Gone", was what set Tweedy apart as a prodigal songwriter. If you're a fan of this band, you probably were already drooling at the thumbnail!
For the soon to be hip: The stuff on these discs is far better than a lot of the material Wilco or Sun Volt has put out over the years. It's simple and raw, full of youthful energy, and the songwriting is at it's catchiest.

Fun Fact #1: There is an ode to the guitarist of the Minutemen entitled what else but "D. Boon".
Fun Fact #2 : March 16-20, 1992 was produced by Peter Buck of R.E.M. Buck sort of championed Uncle Tupelo and was dedicated to getting their music out to the masses.
