Description
For your consideration is a scarce copy of the United States Navy Port Authority Soul Band's lp, "Together". Smoking soul/funk set was executed by members of the US Navy based in Washington D.C.. Never for sale in shops, this was presumably intended to be used by Navy recruiters to show potential recruits how groovy, funky and soulful the US Navy could be. It says on the back "This Album was produced by The Recruiting Advertising Department of the Navy Recruiting Command and is Not For Sale. It is for distribution to Field Recruiters for Navy Public Information and Recruiting purposes in support of appearances of the United States Navy Band, Port Authority, as an example of the New Sound of the Navy Today." Music straddles the fence between DC vocal soul and wah-heavy, early 1970s pre-disco funk, with by turns heavy, blaxtoitation-esque and elegant brass arrangements. GREAT! Vinyl and cover both rates M-... as new.
