This PIL Metal Box was one of my own 2 copies bought new in 1979 the day it was issued! One set got played and taped once to use in the car, the other (this one) never got played at all! With it having spent almost 30 years in my parents attic, the time has come to start having a bit of a clearout.
As can be seen from the photos, it is in mint condition. There are no dents, scratches, tears etc whatsoever.
It is of course the 1st edition version and therefore comes complete with all the original components - metal 'canister' case, 3 x LPs, white paper inner sheets and the all-important red/white information sheet.
The outer base of the canister still has the 'Metal 1' sticker fully intact.
The only sign of age is a general patination to the metal canister. If the new owner wants to make it appear exactly as it did 30 years ago, a session with Silvo would make it look just like a modern Japanese reissue - so then again, maybe not such a good idea!
