In the space of about a year, internal tensions had resulted in the creation of an astounding seven former members of Ultimate Spinach, the last one being the group's founder and visionary, Ian Bruce-Douglas.  Owing two further albums on the group's contract, producer Alan Lorber, faced with a band without a songwriter or lead singer, reassembled the remnants of the group, and augmented them with the songwriting team from the similarly recently defunct Chamaeleon Church.

Thus, Lorber finally had the band he'd always wanted.  Purveyors of singles-friendly three-minute pop tunes who wouldn't argue with him over the concept of "artistic direction". Lorber's decision to re-launch the group with a cover of the Reflections 1964 hit seemed to show both a distaste for what had gone before, and a laughingly bad sense of what would sell.

That's not to say that the album is horrible, since it isn't.  But neither is it the exciting, daring, visionary thing that the Bruce-Douglas-led lineups had crafted.  Like, Just Good Old Rock and Roll. it is a radical departure headlong into a brick wall.

That's unfortunate, since, while there's nothing here that rivals "Camillia is Changing", or "Remembering's All I Can Do", the would-be Chamaeleon Church tracks do have a certain charm, especially "Happiness Child" and "Reasons", the latter featuring lead vocals by lone original member, Barbara Hudson.

Whereas the album begins awash in nostalgia, it ends with a hope for the future.  "The World Has Just Begun", a chronicle of then-recent political events, points tenuously into the unknown.  Capped off by a solid, succinct Baxter guitar solo. it concludes the album on a good note.
