Description
Uncle Dave Macon was the Grandfather of Country music, as he was the first star of the Grand ole Opry. His polished stage presence and lively personality, made him one of the most enduring figures of early Country western music. Here we have Brunswick #263, "Governor Al Smith" which was recorded in August, 1928, just after Governor Alfred Smith was Nominated as the candidate for President at the Democratic National convention. "Comin' round the mountain" was a duet sung with Sam McGee, another Grand old Opry star, who played the fiddle and Banjo. Uncle Dave recorded many records on many labels, and all are collectible today. The ones on Brunswick lightening bolt, are especially desirable.
This particular record is a very nice copy. there are a few scuffs, and side B has a needle scratch that does not affect play. The label is excellent and there is no graying in the grooves. I played both sides on my Rockola 1428. This record will be shipped in a special re-useable cardboard box. Accordingly, the shipping cost is $9.75. If you are into Early Country, history and politics, this record is for you.
