Description

Please refer to the auction title and picture(s) for details about this record.

Click on the audio player below to hear a brief mp3 excerpt from this record. This is a straight transfer from the actual record in this auction, with NO noise reduction or click removal processes applied. This will give you a basic idea of the playing condition of this record. Please be aware that mono records are properly transferred summed to mono, which generally cancels out some of the surface noise. Mono records played in stereo will sound more noisy. I can't accept returns for mono records that don't sound as good played in stereo.

Notes: This is a 10" 45rpm acetate from the mid 1960s. Another acetate of the A-side that I have listed seperately lists the artist as Barbara Wilson. The songs are "I Have Something New" and "Whad' Ya Know?" I'm not 100% sure, but this could be the Barbara Wilson who was the wife of Frank Wilson, who passed away at age 23 in 1966. The RCA matrix beginning with "S" indicates this was made in 1965, so if it's the same person, it could be one of her last recordings. As far as I can determine, these recordings were never released, and are unknown to the collecting community. I can't find any listing for these songs in the BMI or ASCAP databases, and I don't know who wrote or produced them. Apparently this was intended for the Colpix label. This is pure speculation, but possibly the record was not released due to Wilson's passing? I just don't know. I have another acetate of this song listed in a seperate auction that has only the A-side. I believe the two versions are the same, with maybe slightly different mastering. These two acetates are possibly the only surviving copies of this music.
Visual grade: VG++ (listen to mp3 for audio grade, which is often better than the visual grade for 45s)

Unless otherwise noted, records are graded visually using the Goldmine system.

I've learned that this material has up to this point never been released, officially or otherwise, and that these are the only known acetates. Ace Records owns the master tapes to this material (along with the entire Colpix archive) and plans an official release of some sort sometime in the near future.
