Unused MARKLEY "A Group" Vinyl LP from 1969 - Sealed

• You are bidding on one unused copy of the MARKLEY vinyl LP album "A Group" in stereo from 1969. Produced by Bob Markley and Michael Lloyd. Duration: 29:14. This LP is the basically the fifth and last album from the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. This is an original issue LP on the original label, not a reissue.

• This LP is SEALED and in very good condition. (See grading legend below). The disc has not been evaluated and is assumed to be MINT. The jacket is VG+ due to some minor damage; there is about one inch of wear on the jacket opening and two spots on the top spine. Some of the shrinkwrap is torn but most is in place. The damage areas are pictured below. The album was a cut-out but there is no hole or slice in the jacket.

Also, the open LP includes a lyric sheet - the auction item may include a lyric sheet, but this is also not guaranteed. Otherwise, the actual auction item is pictured below.

  The final West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band album didn't even feature the band's name (although for once all four bandmembers, including Michael Lloyd, were properly credited in the liner notes): Bob Markley had suggested that they change the band's name for this release, and the rest of the group consented, perhaps simply tired of dealing with Markley's legendary egomania. Surprisingly, this is actually not a bad record at all (certainly it's better than the last-gasp efforts of the group's former labelmates the Electric Prunes and the Beau Brummels, which came out around the same time), including both some excellent string parts by Lloyd and some of Danny Harris' best vocals. (Brother Shaun Harris appears only on the final track, a superior remake of "Outside/Inside" from 1969's Where's My Daddy?) Musically, the simple, often delicate sound is most akin to the group's first indie album from 1966 (reissued on Sundazed in 1997). The soft-edged arrangements prominently feature Lloyd's keyboards and overdubbed harmonies courtesy of Harris and Lloyd; most of the guitars are acoustic for once. Lyrically, however, Bob Markley seems to be continuing Where's My Daddy?'s creepy themes of paranoia, class resentment (for someone who funded the band through his trust fund, Markley seemed to write an awful lot of songs about wealth redistribution), and, perhaps most tellingly in light of the lyricist's eventual legal troubles, a predilection for underage girls. That blend of musical beauty and lyrical ickiness is, at heart, the true legacy of the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band.

• EX = Only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which do not distract significantly from the sound. Cover has only slight surface wear and is still in nice collectible condition.
  
• VG+ = Evidence of play, with moderate surface wear and some minor noise - still plays well. Cover is solid with no breaks but may have minor surface wear or some ring wear.
  
• VG = Overall wear, but no skips or serious defects. May be somewhat noisy during quiet passages. Cover is worn, with considerable ring wear, and may have partially broken edges.
  
• VG- = Playable, but both the record and cover are well worn.
  
• G or G+ = Poor or Rough condition. Holefiller only!
