Recorded at ex-Vibrators’ bassist Pat Collier’s London Studio in May 2016, this fi fth Urban Dogs album really is their best yet, featuring a stunning collection of songs that are breathtaking in their variety, both musically and lyrically.
Selected highlights are Charlie’s harmonica-drenched ‘Pawn Shop Special’ and bittersweet ‘Whisky Song’, Knox’s fascinating songwriting skills, encompassing ageing love, crucifi xion and android analogy, two stunning covers; their take on The Monkees and Sex Pistols’ famous cover song ‘Steppin’ Stone’ and Johnny Thunders’ classic ‘You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’ as well as Alvin’s best ever song yet, the simply sensational punk raucous sweaty-sweet stomper that is ‘Sidewalk Baby’.
All that and we haven’t even barked on about the Knox sung Gibbs homage to Vivienne Westwood - ‘World’s End Apocalypso’ or Alvin’s perfect politician put-down ‘Goddamn Liar’!
