Beautiful aural delivery...Not to be missed..

A very significant masterpiece from Uriah Heep, possibly their best album production  and was their second album release. Becoming impossible to track down now and is an essential collectors’ item for the serious vinyl enthusiast. This release epitomises their first attempt into large scale composing . An orchestral infusion mixed with guitar strings and vocals. Plenty of mood swings and various sound dimensions, make this album one of the best rock albums of the seventies.

Lightly played

Labels are excellent with no mottling or peeling. Large swirl side 1/ smaller FULL swirl on side two above the central hole, confirming the very first UK pressing of this monumental rock classic .

Vinyl

Thick cut, heavyweight pressing ! A pleasure to view as it reflects a glorious, mirror like glaze. Odd surface mark to indicate a “lightly played” history but any surface marks virtually disappear beneath its deep gloss under ordinary light. One light scratch on side B , otherwise nothing to fault! Beautiful example of this mega rare vintage press. Ex-/Ex visual .

Swirl inner bag Ex No rips nor tears , just two minor nicks on central edge. Some glue residue causing some discoloration on top edge. Polylined and THE original inner bag as date of release is printed on lower left corner. “01 71” Magnificent collectors’ item !

Audio excellent channels.

Hardly any surface detected. The vocals are haunting with a crisp clarity . The wider grooves, on these vertigo first UK pressings, were engineered to the highest standards of craftsmanship , in order to deliver the deepest bass guitar riffs and these will not disappoint. To the other extreme, the shrill vocal cries reach unbelievable heights ,contrasting with softer lyrics from the second track, side 1.The repetitive silent interludes during this track is a severe test for any audio, and this vinyl conveys one of the best deliveries, as only distant static is heard very occasionally and offer near silent pauses at times which is quite incredible and normally ,impossible to find from this vintage classic . Side B kick starts with a vibrant warmth. The title track, Salisbury ,delivers in fine style, and the light scratch ,located mid way ,produces 3-4 ticks ,which does not appear to affect the music presentation very much at all.

Gatefold sleeve

Very good+ condition .  Unlaminated gatefold sleeve, designed by Bloomsbury Group .Some light edge wear visible .Original first issue sleeve , found better than many . No rips, nor tears. Gatefold format with faint rubbing on outer faces, mostly on reverse face, with front face still retaining strong coloration . Spine, square and solid, clearly showing title . Centrefold displays with no major damage and is a very good + example of a normally heavily worn album cover, as there is no lamination and this gatefold is prone to massive wear and tear. A fine exhibit indeed of this heavy rock psyche .

A remarkable example of this highly elusive, vertigo swirl classic, and will find difficult to match.
