So, you're after a nice early quality pressing of UMBLE. But the problem - everyone seems to be after those elusive 1st Vertigo copies [from summer '70]. Net result  - major $$$ outlay. Or... is there another way to get close?...for a lot less $$$>>
By the end of 1970 Heep were going places and Gerry Bron was riding that wave. Bronze Records set up in spring 1971 just as Heep's 2nd effort crashed into the charts 'Salisbury'. Bronze immediately set about reissuing UMBLE to cash in as quick as possible. Therefore - very earliest Bronze copies of UMBLE were being pressed at the same time as later VERTIGO copies. Essentially - if you can find a very early Bronze disc you are literally dealing with a copy from the same time period. You can snag GREAT audio - but at a fraction of the Vertigo copy. And that's what we have here. Check the labels out. Distribution is with 'Island'. The stereo format is mentioned on these early copies - and the publishing date is mentioned in isolation. Any other indicators>? Yep, early copies should be equivalent weight to Vertigo copies. Matrix A2U/B2U. Stampers 1A/1A - this is an extremely early Bronze copy. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. No record company logos front or rear - which helps to preserve the aesthetic. We have the original generic inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very light marks per side - one does just sound very briefly [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. An absolute banger. Packs a punch with the heavy riffing. But very adept at the lowkey number - Melinda. Difficult to find this one playing back properly clean. The only issues I could pick out were... a couple of very slight ticks in 'Melinda' [no big deal at all]. And the mark [mentioned above] causes 5 clicks over the opening organ notes of 'Dreamware'. Seconds later the guitars crash in - and it goes clean. Overall a super player and there's little to take issue with. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) In very nice condition and has been carefully looked after. Not much surface wear or light fade. The interior looks superb - no issues. Very slight edge wear and firm sharp openings. The spine is in excellent condition with all text legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Aged a little. Bit of writing, No splits.
