Description
Much-sought 1972 LP from future Alice Cooper guitarist Dick Wagner.
This is a promo copy, with some OK notes on the track listing label - most likely the radio station listened to it once for profanity etc. I'm unsure about rating covers, but this one is mostly in pretty good shape with a bit of ring wear -- see the photo. Light edge wear and a small cutout that I initially missed. The platter inside is in excellent shape with a couple of small light marks -- casual observation would easily miss them. Orange RCA label and dynaflex marking along with the promo label I believe indicate the first pressing.
Similar copies have sold here recently for as much as $59.
"a terrific atmospheric HARD guitar PSYCH beast with terrific guitar work all through the dynamic self composed tracks the guitar trio is led by Dick Wagner (guitar/vocals) who once led the FROST in many Detroit kick out the jams shows ... With URSA MAJOR the volume and dynamics are up a level or three with powerful riff-o-rama progressions... Many unsuspecting collectors may have had lesser or low expectations about this album but were blown away by its impact. One of the best lps of it's kind with great Dick Wagner vocals (Darkest Hour, Back to the Land, Liberty), framimg each song with sonic guitar work.Another overlooked treasure of the early 70's to be filed along with the likes of Captain Beyond, Armageddon, etc. Highly recommended. It's also a good recording."
