Description

This is a very collectable Berliner one sided disc. Apologies that the picture is not very good. The text looks stamped / scribed directly onto the shellac rather than a paper label. It is numbered 110 and is dated 11-6-1900. The full title is Opening Chorus and Silver Star of Love from Floradora played by The Municipal Concert Band London. I would grade this disc as VG to excellent considering its age. However there are numerous light indents in the surface (both play and non-play areas) which I am assuming is from date of manufacture as I have several of these discs and this appears to varying degrees on quite a number of them. These marking are a bit of a mystery though so if anyone has any knowledge on this I would be grateful and I have graded the disc on the assumption that these are not through wear and tear ... I am not sure how such marking could have occurred after manufacture without causing the record to crack / break!. Apart from that I can see no visible damage and there are no cracks or chips. On the reverse there is printed  "reproduced in hanover". I have not played the disc as I am sure you should not use standard 78 needles on this very old disc. I have looked carefully and there is no sign of any scratches that would make the record click or jump. The item will be packaged very well in a good oversized box with plenty of internal packaging.
