YOU ARE BIDDING ON A FABULOUS ORIGINAL VERY SOUGHT AFTER RARE VINYL LP IN EXCELLENT CONDITION  
VARIOUS ARTISTS    " JACKPOT OF HITS "
NYC-based APOLLO Records was incorporated in 1944. The label recorded R&B, gospel, jazz and pop artists such as Charlie Barnet, the "5" Royales, the O'Jays, Mahalia Jackson, Solomon Burke and Little Anthony & the Imperials in their original "Chestnuts" guise. APOLLO issued LPs from 1947 to '62. Early albums were 10" format.

From 1959, JACKPOT OF HITS (LP-490) was APOLLO's only various artists compilation.

RANDOM NOTES
Edwin Bocage ("Eddie Bo") was a New Orleans-style pianist. Of the Crescent City's R&B artists, only Fats Domino issued more singles than Eddie.
The two Little Anthony cuts are from his brief 1957 stint with APOLLO.
The Keynotes were a quintet from Philly that also recorded for DOT.
The Cellos were Manhattan high schoolers who had an unsuccessful two-year career; this despite the support of DJ Alan Freed.
From 5/57, the Cellos' "Ring Tang Ding Dong" is this set's only Billboard pop charter (#62).
An early publicity photo of NYC doowoppers the Delroys has them in Bermuda shorts.
Philly soul shouter Chuck Edwards changed labels frequently but never had a national hit.
The Sparks of Rhythm, originally the Berliners, recorded Jimmy Jones' "Handy Man" after he left the group. Jimmy's version wasn't waxed until 1959.

The seven standard condition categories, and a description of what each one means, are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. 

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. 

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
