Description

Various Artists "Power to the Working Class" LP (Private/no label ORIG 1970s)

Up for sale today is a very strange LP connected to the Progressive Labor Party (the 'catalog number' of sorts is PLP-LP), some kind of communist party based on the East of the USA. The lyrical content of some songs suggests that this was recorded in the early 1970s, though there is no release date that I can find. The music is a mix of socialist protest folk ("Bella Ciao" and "L'Internationale" are both on side A) and funk, all with socialist/communist lyrics. Since this is an obscure and somewhat mysterious LP, I've put up three full tracks for you to sample:

Sample 1: plp-1
Sample 2: plp-2
Sample 3: plp-3

Cool stuff, huh? I've never seen another copy, and picked it up at a recent record fair basically on the strength of the cover art alone. Who knew it would be a great LP too! Perfect for collectors of the obscure, 1970s funk classics, political recordings, private pressings, etc.

Condition: Sleeve is VG+ with storage wear as you can see in the pictures. Included large insert with lyrics in English and Spanish is complete and intact, with slight aging evident around the folded portions. Record is VG+. Side A is a bit noisier than side B, but both play through on my record player with slight to moderate surface noise, depending on the passage (side A is folky, so the music is quieter than the funkier stuff on side B).

Terms (Please read carefully): Payment via Paypal is due within THREE (3) DAYS -- no exceptions! Buyer pays shipping. The shipping cost listed in this auction is for USA bidders only.
