VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR LEAST WE CAN DO PROG PSYCH LP

This is one of my favourite albums of all time. It is the debut LP from the great Van Der Graaf Generator, featuring the unique song writing and vocals of Peter Hammill along with the magnificent musicianship of his colleagues (see below). It is entitled 'The Least WeCan Do is Wave To each Other' and this example is, as far as I know, an early pressing on the UK pink 'scroll' Charisma label (catalogue no. CAS 1007). This set includes the rare and often damaged 620mm x 440mm fold out poster which is in superb condition considering its age. 

OUTER SLEEVE - The gatefold sleeve is in generally fine condition with some very minor wear and creasing. There is a very minor tear (5mm x 4mm) on the front top right hand corner but this is hardly noticeable. The top and bottom edges show some very minor wear and the spine is in fine condition. There is no wording along the spine. The inner portion of the gatefold sleeve is in great condition with almost no wear or marks. INNER SLEEVE - This is a plain white diecut paper type with a clear plastic lining with blue wording on one side which states - 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS...ETC - British patent No. 800513 & 973939 - MADE IN ENGLAND 4913 000 15801  341'. I've graded the inner sleeve as Ex.

POSTER - This is a colour (pink, orange and white) poster with a greatpsychedelic picture on one side and some notes by Peter Hammill on the other together with the lyrics for the songs on the album. It is 620mm x 440mm.There are no tears and only one or two very minor creases. There is some very minor faded ball pen in one corner but this is hardly noticeable. There are no drawing pin holes in the poster. I have graded the poster Ex+. It folds three ways and has eight panels.  

RECORD - This is in fine condition and there are some surface marks on both sides which result in surface noise especially in quiet passages and between tracks. There is some definite surface noise at the start of track one, side one which recedes after a few seconds. There are occasional pops and clicks on both sides but there are definitely no jumps or skips on either side. The labels which are the original textured Charisma 'pink scroll' type with 'the famous CHARISMA label' logo in white, with black wording are in fine condition. It states at the bottom of eacg label - 'Publisher : Stratsong - Producer : John Anthony'. There are some very minor spindle marks on both labels. I believe that this is an early pressing of this album. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - CAS + 1007 + A + G - side two - CAS + 1007 + B + G. I have graded the record as VG+ and believe that this is very fair.
