VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - 'PAWN HEARTS' 1971 - 180 gm RE-ISSUE (2012) - 4 MEN WITH BEARDS
Description
This is a re-issue, from 2012, on 180 gram vinyl of Van Der Graaf Generator's classic 1971 album 'Pawn Hearts. Released by the San Francisco based '4 Men With Beards' label (part of the Runt group), specialists in 180 gram vinyl re-issue.
The original album was originally released in 1971 on the Charisma label. It features the epic 'A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers', which takes up the whole of Side 2.
This is a re-issue of the US release which contains the bands version of George Martin's 'Theme One', familiar to those us of a certain age from its use as Radio 1's theme tune and heralding the 'Friday Night Connection' on Tommy Vance's Friday Night Rock Show. The European release of the album didn't include this, and was said not have been approved by the band for the US release.
The band for this recording is regarded as the 'classic' line-up of included:- Peter Hamill (lead vocals, acoustic and slide guitar, electric piano, piano), David Jackson (tenor, alto and soprano saxophones, flute, vocals), Hugh Banton (Hammond E & C and Farfisa Professional organs, piano, Mellotron, ARP synthesizer, bass pedals, bass guitar, psychedelic razor, vocals), Guy Evans (drums, timpani, percussion, piano) with Robert Fripp helping out on electric guitar (on "Lemmings (Including 'Cog')", "Man-Erg", and "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers")

Condition
The vinyl appears to be in new, unused condition and is still in, what we presume to be, its original, intact shrink-wrap. The shrink-wrap also has the original '4 Men With Beards' sticker and barcode attached .
