MOTHERS/STAMPERS: Another interesting feature of this pressing is the complete lack of any mothers numbers or stamper letters on this pressing
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL SOFT-BACKED, MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending"

The album was recorded at Trident Studios, London, December 11-14, 1969.
Trident was perhaps the most advanced studio in Europe at the time and the group made good use of the new technology to created a recording of outstanding technical quality.
Most of the album was recorded on an 8-track reel to reel machine. However, the song After The Flood was recorded on the brand new state of the art MM-1000 16-track machine built by Ampex. This makes it perhaps the first such 16 track recording ever made in the U.K.
The title of the LP is taken from John Minton: "We're all awash in a sea of blood, and the least we can do is wave to each other."

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked with a little wear around the centre hole but no real evident spindle traces
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have their original deep, glossy sheen with just a few light, superficial marks but these have little audio consequence - playback is excellent
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio quality on this first pressing with crystal clear, deep, rich and warm audio reproduction - great sound - very, very impressive indeed. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing, and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this wonderful LP) there are no scratches, no sticks/jumps, barely any surface noise (just a touch on some (not all) of the quieter sections - nothing major and nothing I found at all intrusive on play-grading this masterpiece) and with the only notable patch of 'clicking' being at the end of "Whatever Would Robert Have Said?" (for a couple of seconds only). Otherwise, the sound quality is simply sensational and the whole LP plays to a very, very high standard with great clarity and stereo separation, no groove-wear and no distortion and is critically graded a strong EXCELLENT for audio - very nice copy of this essential LP and very highly recommended indeed
SLEEVE: The original matt, untreated gatefold is in Nr EXCELLENT condition with just some general storage wear to the surfaces (light ring on the back - nothing major), edges and spine (there is no spine text) and the whole sleeve is clean and unmarked with no structural damage (no rips, tears or label removal marks) - a very fine example of this soft, untreated sleeve
