THIS IS THE 1995 EUROPEAN ORIGINAL PRESSING on VERVE/EXILE label. SINGLE COVER. The cover is in EX condition: normal wear and without any major deterioration, BUT light discolouration/wear on corners, surface ringw-halo, mild creases on edges, left spine is fully readable; please for details see photos. The vinyl is in EX condition (barely played).

Equal parts blue-eyed soul shouter and wild-eyed poet-sorcerer, Van Morrison is among popular music's true innovators, a restless seeker whose incantatory vocals and alchemical fusion of R&B, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk produced perhaps the most spiritually transcendent body of work in the rock & roll canon.
Georgie Fame's swinging, surprisingly credible blend of jazz and American R&B earned him a substantial following in his native U.K., where he scored three number one singles during the '60s. Fame played piano and organ in addition to singing, and was influenced by the likes of Mose Allison, Booker T. & the MG's, and Louis Jordan. Early in his career, he also peppered his repertoire with Jamaican ska and bluebeat tunes, helping to popularize that genre in England; during his later years, he was one of the few jazz singers of any stripe to take an interest in the vanishing art of vocalese, and earned much general respect from jazz critics on both sides of the Atlantic.

Although he has made his name in pop music, singer Van Morrison has long enjoyed jazz, particularly the singing and lyrics of Mose Allison (for whom he had previously organized a recorded tribute). This particular release finds Morrison teaming up with singer Georgie Fame (who also plays organ) and a top-notch group of mostly British jazzmen (tenorman Pee Wee Ellis is a ringer). The music is mostly blues- and jazz-oriented, with the highlights including "The New Symphony Sid," "Early in the Morning," "Sack O' Woe," "Centerpiece," a couple of Mose's better songs, and Morrison's hit "Moondance." A good introduction to Morrison's singing talents for jazz listeners not familiar with him, and a generally successful effort...(AllMusic)
