WARNER BROS. Records WS-1950
Original 1971 issue • Stereo LP
1st PRESSING (1/1 MATRIX) / w/Original Huge POSTER
VINYL is VG+ STRONG
Very glossy vinyl shows light superficial sleeve scuff, hairlines, viewed under hard bright light, that is almost entirely inaudible. LP plays a high EX to mostly NM throughout with only a whisper of background noise at very beginning of sides, then extremely quiet grooves, with stunningly bright, bold 1st Press audio. 1st issue Green "SHIELD" labels are super clean both sides.
.
COVER is NM-
Bright, super clean gatefold is near-new; crisp, vivid, sharp-cornered and straight all around, with no creases, writing soil or shelf wear. Under close scrutiny, faint ring rub can just be detected. Inside gatefold is pristine. Seams and flat, smooth spine are 100% intact with no wear or splits.
STRICT CONSERVATIVE GOLDMINE GRADING
NM / EX(VG++) / VG+ / VG
6-PANEL Original POSTER included
Folds out to be as large as 6 LPs -not a reprint!?
FIRST PRESSING
MATRIX NUMBERS
?Side One: 1 WS-1950 A 39987-1B
?Side Two: 1 WS-1950 B 39988-1A
* there was no issued "-1A" matrix for side 1, which is why almost no eBay seller shows actual matrix #s on this 1st USA press -usually only stating "1/1" matrix. They don't know, haven't looked it up and are not sure. I've looked it up and I am sure: the A1 laquer for side 1 was destroyed as defective and the B1 cut is the corrected and first issued.

AllMusic.com REVIEW:
"Tupelo Honey is typical of Van Morrison's early-'70s work in both sound and structure; after dispensing with the requisite hit -- here, the buoyant, R&B-inflected "Wild Night" -- he truly gets down to business, settling into a luminously pastoral drift typified by the nostalgic "Old Old Woodstock". At the heart of the record are a pair of stunning love songs, "You're My Woman" and the hymn-like title cut [Tupelo Honey], one of Morrison's most enduring and transcendent compositions."
