The 1992 film Singles is famous for its pairing of soundtrack and theme. It's a film about the lives and loves of a bunch of Seattle grunge geeks as they encircle the local music scene. Fittingly, director Cameron Crowe (known for Almost Famous and several Pearl Jam documentaries) effectively had his work cut out for him when choosing music to soundtrack it; contributions from Alice In Chains, Jimi Hendrix, The Smashing Pumpkins, Chris Cornell, Mother Love Bone and Mudhoney make this a classic in the ultra-niche realm of grunge soundtracks and a bittersweet precursor to the 'death' of the genre by the internet only a few years later.
