Description

VARIOUS: Woodstock (Atlantic, K 60001, 1982 copy, 3-LP set)

I'm guessing at this being a 1982 copy because  I remember buying it in HMV, Bristol for somewhere around £8, shortly after watching the film on the then new Channel 4 in November of that year. I also remember being very annoyed shortly afterwards at West German-manufactured copies becoming commonly available in the UK at £4.99.

The labels have the Warner logo (even if the sleeve does not) and there is a Strawberry mastering stamp in the run-offs (which also points at late 1982 - the Greg Lake Christmas single 1982 reissue (also on a Warner label) also had Strawberry stamps). Looks as if they were still using up late-1970s-manufactured sleeves.

You all know who's on it but here we go (in alphabetical order): Joan Baez, Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, Joe Cocker, Country Joe & the Fish, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe McDonald, Santana, John B. Sebastian, Sha-Na-Na, Sly & the Family Stone, Ten Years After, the Who.

The sleeve is VG with a couple of small scuffs (caused by the then girlfriend and not me - I don’t do that sort of thing to records!) - see photos. Records play at EX, the only exceptions are some very light background at the start of each side, at the start of John B. Sebastian's I Had A Dream, and at the start of Joan Baez' Joe Hill (probably all still allowable within an EX description, to be honest). The only real problem is that there is a skip during the Who song, which wasn't there on last play before it all going into storage. Curious. And annoying.

By the way, about John B. Sebastian dedicating his second song on the LP to the parents of the child born at Woodstock…well, after extensive research by Joel Makower, it looks as though no baby was ever born at the festival! Search on "My search for the Woodstock baby" and the above name. And if it is expert testimony of the organsation of the festival, the festival itself, and the ten-year-long fall-out from the festival, go and find a copy of 'Barefoot In Babylon' by Bob Spitz. An eye-opener. Peace and love, eveyone!

Records generally have hairline marks from going in and out of sleeves - I do not mention these unless they cause audible noise. All records are play tested unless explicitly stated otherwise. Most of the records I am selling play at "Excellent" or "Very Good" as per Record Collector grading. Any specific defects are otherwise described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves/labels.

All items won, up to a value of £50.00, will be sent as Royal Mail 'signed for'. If items are bid above £50.00 (or multiple items combine to more than £50), they will be sent as Royal Mail Special Delivery, so that parcels are correctly insured against loss or damage in transit. If you win multiple items, please wait for me to invoice with correct postage. Note that the postage costs stated include packaging costs. Where possible, packaging will be recycled but sturdy/secure.

Combined postage *for UK buyers only* - 6 single LPs costs the same to post as 1 single LP. Note that if you win items in multiple formats, (e.g., an LP and a CD), these have to be sent as multiple parcels (though I can bundle up 7" records with an LP).

*Non-UK bidders* please note that I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme, which means every item won has to be packaged and sent separately so combined postage is not possible.

Non-paying high bidders will be blocked from bidding on future items.

Unless stated otherwise, all items are from my own collection. Most has been in storage for nearly 20 years. Lockdowns made me wonder why I have multiple copies of records that I will never listen to. There are about 8,000 more items to come from my rambling progressive, jazz fusion, folk, blues, 1950s stereo classical and easy listening, psychedelic, reggae, ambient, spoken word, comedy, railway, field recordings, electronic and occasionally just plain 'out there' collection.
