Beginning on April 29th 1973 and lasting for another sixevenings, the "A Week To Remember" concerts dreamt up by musicindustry icon Clive Davis were a stunning way to highlight the Murderers Rowline-up of artists that were then signed to Columbia Records. With highlightslike Miles Davis, the Staples Singers, Bruce Springsteen, Earth, Wind and Firealong with many others, the seven nights of shows at the Ahmanson Theater inLos Angeles was, by all accounts, a remarkable showcase of the clout thelegendary label wielded.

Of particular interest is the live performance by JohnnyCash. Touching on just about every song one would wish for him to play at aconcert in 1973, the stacked set list includes choice guest appearances fromboth his wife June Carter Cash and fellow Sun Records alumnus, Carl Perkins.Opening with the iconic "Big River" through a heavy take on KrisKristofferson's "Sunday Morning Coming Down" a breezy jaunt through"A Boy Named Sue" to "Hey Porter" to "I Walk TheLine" to "Jackson" and "Folsom Prison Blues" it's awonder at how many downright PURE hits were just...the songs in his set.

Third Man Records, in conjunction with Sony Music and theestate of Johnny Cash are ecstatic to release A Night to Remember. Presentedhere for the first time ever is the full show multi-track recording of Cash'sperformance from that spring night of 1973. A master class in a show if thereever was one, this production holds up with Cash's previous live albums whilestill exposing a side to the Man in Black not displayed on his canonical setsfrom San Quentin and Folsom Prison. Pressed on two discs on a new vinyl colorwe’re calling “vintage white", this double LP is yet another prime entryin the already-expansive Cash discography.

As if that weren't enough, Davis had the foresight toprofessionally FILM these concerts. While not capturing the entire set, therevelatory backstage footage is worth the price of admission alone. Thehigh-quality, multi-camera shoot is gorgeous and immediately transports theviewer back forty-plus years and this previously unseen moment of Cash in fullcommand of his performance and a crowd just lapping it up.

Over the past several years, Grammy Award Winning producerJohn Carter Cash has embarked on an ambitious project pairing both lyrics andpoems written by Johnny Cash and placing them with current artists to create anentirely new collaboration. The Forever Words album of 2018 was inspiring andcontinuing on that path, a 7-inch including two previously unreleased ForeverWords pieces accompany this package. We couldn’t be more excited to have theinimitable Ruston Kelly sharing his earth-shaking romp on “Dark and BloodyGround.” On the flip side, a super-secret MYSTERY ARTIST to be revealed soon.Feel free to start guessing. It's a doozy. Pressed on jaw-dropping gold coloredvinyl, this single is a thing of pure beauty.

Forever Words 7-inch single

The A-side features a previously unreleased track from TheLumineers titled “Pretty Pictures In My Mind.” The B-side of the 7” singlefeatures a new track from Ruston Kelly, “Dark and Bloody Ground.”

These two recordings are part of the continuation of JohnnyCash: Forever Words, a multi-year project by John Carter Cash, who has combedthe Johnny Cash archive for unreleased poems, prose and lyrics. These newtracks by Ruston Kelly and The Lumineers will be included in a futureinstallment of the next compilation.

Johnny Cash: Forever Words was released in 2018 and iscomprised of Cash’s unknown poetry, lyrics, and letters, set to music by anall-star array of contemporary artists including Ruston Kelly & KaceyMusgraves, Chris Cornell, Rosanne Cash, Alison Krauss & Union Station, KrisKristofferson & Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, John Mellencamp, CarleneCarter, Elvis Costello, The Jayhawks and more.
