In a bold departure from the dark, heavy and dangerous “White Light/White Heat”, the Velvets recorded this quiet, contemplative and ultimately joyous record. More than any other band’s output, the Velvets’ records hang together almost as chapters from a book, and it’s easy to imagine that the four original lps were conceived and written before they ever walked into a studio! That’s not true, of course, but it does make the case for the necessity of owning them all... not to mention each lp’s superiority over virtually all their contemporary’s output. This lp includes “Some Kinda Love”, the most ambiguously sexy song ever recorded, and “The Murder Mystery”, an experimental eight minutes that will leave you at best uncomfortable. There’s also “Pale Blue Eyes” and “Candy Says”, two of the most beautiful, emotionally rich and tender love songs ever achingly revealed from a human’s soul. Then there’s the redemptive joy of “What Goes On” and “Beginning To See The Light”, just to show you that true salvation rocks! This is one of the four best rock’n’roll records ever made, and can you guess the other three? Disc is VG++, and is a stereo white label promo. Cover has mild wear, a bit of red ink marking and promo sticker on front.
