Description
Here is The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground UK Stereo LP on MGM with catalogue number- MGM-CS-8108 It is from 1969 and is a UK 1st Pressing Val Valentin Mix and has first pressing Matrix- 2YMG 291-1G with 1G Mother stampers / 2YMG 292-1G with 1G Mother stampers. There were only an estimated 250-300 UK 1G 1st pressings of this album and there can't be many of them that have survived those 60s & early 70s parties-especially in this condition. This disc plays very nicely both sides on my Thorens TD 160 turntable-play graded EX with great audio and only some very light background in just a few places. It really is a lovely example of this LP. The disc looks visually really lovely with nice glossy lustre both sides EX. Please see my 12 photos... The labels are very clean EX with some light spindle trails. The laminated flipbacked sleeve is VG and has a legible spine and a nice opening edge as seen in photos. There is some rubbing to the text on the back of the sleeve but the sleeve is still very presentable. You will have noticed on my photos the horizontal layout on the back of this sleeve. This is one of the 1st press features. This 1st press Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd sleeve has the Lou Reed split photo in this horiziontal format. Please don't mistake this LP with later pressings-this is the very 1st very limited press and a lot rarer. The later pressings from 1971 had the Lou Reed split photo in a vertical format. Great very rare ultra scarce album here for sure that has certainly not been been played too much at all, with really great audio and one for the collection. It will certainly upgrade your lesser one if you have one.
