VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO – DISC JOCKEY RECORD -1967 Verve Records Original US mono PROMO LP

Condition of LP

Cover – The thick card cover sleeve is generally nice and square, with rubbing along all edges, corners and the spine. Unfortunately the original banana sticker has been removed from the front cover. The outside of the cover does exhibit some rubbing marks and some light stains (please see photograph).

The rear of the cover does have the original torso but this is covered by the black lawsuit sticker. The black sticker appears to have had some liquid substance dropped onto it, but this does not affect the cover.

The inside of the cover is generally in good shape with some faint marks and stains.

Vinyl – The vinyl does exhibit a number of hairline scratches and sleeve removal marks on both sides of the LP. When played some of these marks are audible and there is some background noise through the quieter passages. There also appears to be a small heat spot and small impression on the playing surface, which appears to be as a result of the vinyl straying to close to a lamp or a heat source (please see photographs). Both labels on the LP are intact, with the words ‘Mono’ handwritten in pen on both sides. This being said the vinyl does play throughout without skips, jumps or sticks.

Having played this album again for playgrading purposes, I found this album still very enjoyable to listen to despite its few shortcomings.

Just for your information the LP was playgraded from start to finish on a Clearaudio Performance Turntable with a Clearaudio Maestro cartridge through a Pure Sound Valve Phono stage. You can therefore feel confident that the LP was really put through its paces
