original 60's pressing with partially peeled bananna cover
This is on blue label VERVE (#V6-5008) stereo.
The VINYL (graded conservatively) is a weak VG+ or an excellent VG.
SIDE ONE: has a moderate amount of visible medium-deep scratches...nothing horrible. CUT ONE "SUNDAY MORNING" starts off with a bit of "sand" which fades as the track really gets going. There is a bit of popping and clicking on ONLY the softest parts of songs after that. Yeah you'll know you're listening to a vinyl record with a tinge of crusty ambiance, but overall a good sonic experience.
SIDE TWO: has three long medium-deep scratches. None of these make the record skip or repeat at any point during play. There is a rythymic pop/click that starts on the intro to CUT ONE "HEROIN" and can be heard again in the soft parts of that track. It becomes much less noticeable as the side goes on, inaudible on loud musical passages, but subtley back on the softest part of SIDE TWO songs.
The infamous "PEEL SLOWLY AND SEE" cover is a classic in pretty decent shape. Just the tips of the bananna are peeled and the white background is rather dingy (cool-visually, I think...looks like the much loved vinyl relic it is!) There is a 5" split at the top right of back portion of gatefold cover/record sleeve and a 2" one on the bottom, otherwise the jacket is tight and the printing on the spine is 100% in tact. The inner gatefold is in REALLY nice shape.
Please note: this is not the very first pressing with the so-called "torso" on the back cover.
I've done my best to describe the condition of this amazing album.
It's a solid early pressing of a classic and I think you will be very happy with it in your collection!
