From 1967, out of New York, comes The Velvet Underground with their first LP entitled The Velvet Underground & Nico on Verve V5008 MONO. Scarce original of this classic eleven song album! Original with gatefold cover and the pink banana printed on the front and the peelable banana next to it! The gatefold cover features information and photos of the group inside, including a photo of Andy Warhol, who originally got the group together to provide the music at his Exploding Plastic Inevitable. He also designed the cover (which was taken from a painting of his). He also produced the album. Every song on this album is a winner and it is hard for me to pick a favorite! Nico's voice is soaring and haunting,particularly on the songs Femme Fatale and Sunday Morning. There is a large 5" by 11" sticker on the rear cover at the top, reading,"The Velvet Underground & Nico-produced by Andy Warhol". This obscures the floating torso, which was used without permission and created some controversy from the individual!

High spot wear and dirt,peelable babana laid down next to the pink banana,one end folded,one end wrapped inside and missing. This is the rarest of the three original versions of this album! Rare also as a MONO press! Hard to grade the cover-I would put it at better than VG+ but not VG++, record is VG++!!
