Description
Probably one of the strangest and most rare Van Halen records found!
This is a Columbia 45 RPM . It was a one-sided bonus record that came Jane Oliver's "Chasing Rainbows" LP. The track is "One enchanted Evening" . It says "Demonstration Not For Sale" and has copyright 1977 CBS Inc (see photograph).
WHAT MAKES THIS INTERESTING IS THAT THE LABEL AND THE VINYL HAS BEE SCRIBBLED THROUGH ON THIS SIDE WITH A BLUE BALL POINT PEN
WHEN TURNING THE DISC OVER THERE SHOULD BE A PLAIN WHITE LABEL AND NOTHING RECORDED ON THIS SIDE... BUT SOMEONE HAND WROTE "VAN HALEN ATOMIC PUNK" WITH A RED BALL POINT PEN, AND WE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE RECORDED GROOVES ON THIS SIDE. NO ONE HAS SCRIBBLED THROUGH THE GROOVES ON THIS SIDE
This got us curious, so we decided to play the very beginning and found that THIS SIDE played back at 33 1/3 RPM (NOT 45). It starts off with someone yelling "This song is from our last album..." (as a live concert song) and the rock music begins...
We started searching the Internet and found that this matches a Van Halen song that is from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (1977-1978). We didn't play any more of the record because we wanted it to stay as "Mint" as possible.
The record is in MINT- condition (except that the Jane Oliver side has been scribbled all over with pen)...
It is VERY SHINNY and clean. It's Original! Take a good look at the pictures... this is amazing!
It was even found in an original Columbia Records paper sleeve.
It appears that this was a mistake or something unexplainable. Either way, it's a one-of-a-kind item!
If you're a Van Halen collector... this has got to be a must have!
