Back in the mid-2000s, Chilean minimal hero Ricardo Villalobos released Salvador, a compilation of early singles that became a cult favourite among in-the-know collectors. Now, Rawax revives the classic with a fresh vinyl reissue spread across three 12"s. The first volume showcases Villalobos' formative brilliance: Lazer Present,' a Playhouse-era micro-house epic full of off-kilter deep house grooves; 1998's 'Unflug,' where Chilean-inspired percussion collides with cosmic synths and heavyweight rhythm, and 1999's hypnotic 'Tempura,' a proto-minimal trip as playful as it is disorienting. Essential listening for fans eager to trace the roots of Villalobos' unique sonic language.
