VINEGAR JOE (ILPS 9183) Elkie Brooks Robert Palmer RARE UK 1st Pressing + Insert MINT-
RARE UK first pressing of Vinegar Joe`s eponymously-titled debut album on Island Records (1972).
An underrated and somewhat overlooked, progressively-inclined UK band of the early seventies, Vinegar Joe combined the outstanding vocal talents of Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer to stunning effect. Underpinned by a precise, no-nonsense band fronted by guitarist Peter Gage, the band produced a simultaneously bluesy and soulful sound very much the equal of bands such as the similarly-inclined Stone The Crows.
GRADING:
EX(+) COVER in all-round fine condition. Please see photos for details.
- Original unlaminated UK sleeve.
- Minor record imprint on front cover only.
- Light corner bump at bottom right.
- Small paper scuff on the back cover (at top, center right).
- Also includes the original photo insert/lyric sheet in undamaged EX condition.

EX+ RECORD, lightly and carefully played a few times.

- Original pink-rimmed Island Records labels with a single spindle line on each label.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "ILPS 9183 A-2U" and "ILPS 9183 B-3U".

- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / M" on Side One and "1 / A" on Side Two.

- This copy of "Vinegar Joe" is certified to be a UK first pressing, issued in 1972.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded EX(+) to MINT- condition.
