BLAST FROM THE PAST - VINTAGE & RARE ORIGINAL VINYL LP's - Velvet Underground & Nico - Andy Warhol (Banana Cover) and White Light / White Heat!!!!!!!!
CHECK IT OUT!!! This Auction is for: a pair of VINTAGE & RARE ORIGINAL (NO RE-ISSUES HERE PAL) VINYL LP / RECORD by The Velvet Underground, including VU & NICO with the peeled Warhol cover (VERVE V6-5008), and White Light / White Heat (MGM)!!!!
Here's what you get: A classic, original copy of one of the best known albums and album covers ever created!!! First, you get a copy of Velvet Underground & Nico, with the Andy Warhol Cover. I will go ahead and say that you may want to purchase this LP as a filler collectible, and not as a mint copy. The banana has been peeled, and there are some markings on the outer and inner gatefold covers; the cardboard is also coming unglued in one area. The vinyl is, unfortunately, a little rough, with scuffing and some scratches - I see this as more of an art piece, than as a playable record. I would probably play this on a rough record player, just to hear it - the pops add character!!
UPDATED AD: Well, I had numerous people write to ask about this album, to see whether it is even playable, or not.... So, there's only one way to test that - right? I have now listened to this album in its entirety, played on my trusty KD-2055 w/Grado cartridge and JBL speakers (2nd hand audiophile peeps!), and the verdict is as follows: Both sides have hiss and pop, with an occasional larger scratch/bump. In some areas there is a constant rough spot, so there is a constant patch of roughness as the record circulates (on Side B), but this only persists through the first few songs, then back to the hiss and pop. On Side B, I also encountered my only skip of the record, on Song 3 of Side B - I moved over a few grooves, and it was gone.... Now, Side A was rather more playable, with the hiss and pop, but no constant rough spot. Most of my albums are not like this, and I am really only selling this LP because it is collectible, not as some pristine album to listen to. So, my conclusion is that - if you love music and you have a low to mid-end player, and you don't mind hiss and pop, and a bump and scratch, then this is an OK copy - I actually really liked hearing this all the way through. You know how it is with vinyl - you mentally block out all that other stuff when possible. So, it's rough but listenable. If you have a $15,000 turntable, with one of those new $7,000 cartridges I just read about today, then you may want to wait for a perfect copy. All my other vinyl is NEAR MINT, so please check it out - I have lots up for sale right now, with more to come!
Now the other album is PURDY! The 2nd album is White Light / White Heat on MGM pressing, 2353 024 Select - a very rare 1967 pressing, with blue/gold MGM label. A very nice copy - a clean, playable, keeper for your collection - I ain't tryin to sell no junk.... WOO HOO - SNATCH IT ON UP!!
