Promos werden vor der normalen Veröffentlichung in Kleinstauflagen für Musikjournalisten, Radio-DJs und ausgewählte Läden für Rezensionen und zum Radioeinsatz gepresst. Auf der Platte oder dem Coversteht in der Regel "For Promotion Only" / "Trade Sample" / "Échantillon gratuit" / "Unverkäufliche Warenprobe ohne Wert" oder ähnliches. Manchmal sind die Cover anders; seltener sind andere Abmischungen enthalten. Speziell bei angesagten Gruppen sind Promos echte Sammlerstücke und erzielen oft hohe Preise.
What are Promos ?
Promos are issued in small quantities for radio-dj's for advanced airplay and music journalists for reviews and for selected stores to promote the release. They often have different booklets/sleeves and seldom different mixes. You usually find "For Promotion Only" / "Trade Sample" / "Échantillon gratuit" / "Unverkäufliche Warenprobe ohne Wert" or similar printed on the LP/CD or/and sleeve. Especially for important groups promos are highly collectable and often reach high prices.
