Description
First pressing of Van Der Graaf Generator's Pawn Hearts on the Pink Scroll Charisma label. This record comes with the original plain paper inner sleeve. The lyric insert is not included. Indeed many of the early issues did not have the lyric insert -
"...I'm getting Charisma to send you a copy of the Pawn Hearts lyric sheet, there was meant to be one with each album, but I only remembered to check that they were getting it all together at the
last minute, and they weren't, so some went out without..."

The album was not commercially successful in the UK. A Record Mirror review said "I have to confess complete ignorance of precisely what Van der Graaf Generator are trying to achieve". However, the album reached number one on the Italian album charts. The group toured Italy to promote the album, where they were treated like superstars and surrounded by army vehicles and riot police(extract from Wikipedia). Though now recognised as a Progressive Rock masterpiece.
Visual
Cover grades as VG+ . Front, back & inside are very clean with just very minor marks. The spine is very clean & fully legible with just a bit of wear to the bottom corner. The worst that can be said for the cover is that their is some wear to the bottom of the sleeve. I have provided 10 pictures - please look at them carefully. Absolutely no writing or sticker removal marks.
The labels are beautifully clean showing very little evidence of play - Excellent+ - again I have provided pictures. The record itself grades as Excellent, again their is very little evidence of play. The record shines like new but has a few very light sleeve removal marks, thanks presumably to the plain paper sleeve it was issued with. The matrices are CAS 1051A - 1U & CAS 1051B - 1U
Audio
The audio is wonderfully clear with no skips or jumps. Really is remarkable for a record approaching 44 years old with only minor surface noise most noticeable in the run in grooves & for the first few seconds of Lemmings. Otherwise just the occasional bit of static noticeable in the quiet passages. Grades as VG. Audio would probably improve if the record was cleaned properly.
