VAN MORRISON - 'ASTRAL WEEKS'

This 1968 U.S. 1st pressing is arguably the best sounding pressing of this incredible album which was rated #2 in a list of the '100 Best Albums' by UK 'MOJO' magazine in 1995 and #19 in 'Rolling Stone's' The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003.

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

Apart from some faint fingermarks there is, as you can see, little wrong either side.

Visual: VERY GOOD

Both sides of this extremely well-looked after copy are clean, bright & undulled by overplay or poor storage. Careful inspection in strong daylight shows a single long fingernail mark (not scratch) on side 1 which does not affect sound or play but little else of any significance. Close inspection directly beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals numerous light marks and an occiasional light scratch consistant with a moderate amout of careful play, but there is certainly nothing deep or 'feelable'  on either side - both of which lie 100% flat on the turntable.

Play: VERY GOOD +

This copy has recieved some careful play on good equipment as the the sound quiality is consistently excellent throughout. My careful playcheck at volume found there to be no groove/play wear, even on the loudest peaks. Some light background is audible during some of the quiet passages, along with a few light clicks on 'Madame George'. However, there is certainly nothing, in my opinion, to spoil the listening.

Cover

VERY GOOD +

The original shrinkwrapping has protected the cover from the vast majority or wear that 41 years could throw at it and apart from some cornerwear, there is little of any significance to fault. The rear panel has some toning towards the opening edge but otherwise light storagewear is the only significant blemish throughout this fine example.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & white with minor storagewear wrinkling but no splits, tears or writing anywhere.
