Description

This confusingly packaged item may be recalled by Venom fans from the time of its release.  As verified at Encyclopedia Metallum (Go to metal-archives Dot Com and add /albums/Venom/Live_E.P./153334 to the URL, because eBay no longer allows active content, which is insanely stupid, as links like this affirm the validity, and sometimes the value, of items for sale). But it is a 100% legitimate release. Neat Records, Venom's label, put it out, going so far as to issue an NTSC version for the American market.

Here are the numerous ways this item might confuse: The cover features the art work from 1984's 'At War With Satan' L.P., the band's third album. Then the cover describes itself as a "Live E.P.," from September 1982, featuring "Witching Hour" from the band's 1981 debut L.P. 'Welcome to Hell,' and the 1982 single, "Bloodlust" (listed on the cover as "Blood Lust").

While the versions are new, alternate recordings of the songs -- I suppose, possibly recorded live -- the visual performances are clearly lip-synced. But, they pull out ALL the stops. They're on a huge stage, with loads of smoke, walls of amps, lurid multi-colored lighting and really over-the-top performances. The clips are around on YouTube, and are not boring.

Extensive research both 30-odd years ago and now make it clear this was a completely legitimate release (NEAT VID001), with utterly confusing and misleading artwork (for starters, it's a video single, not a video E.P., and it's not live, additionally it has nothing to do with 'At War With Satan). Still, a cool and rare item for any Venom collector.
