Description
An extremely rare opportunity to obtain a copy of one of the scarcest dub albums around:
King Tubby & Jacob Miller – E-E Saw Dub
This album became known as EE Saw Dub because when it was released in 1975 it was shipped with totally incorrect labels – 'City of the Weak Heart', by Earl Zero, on the EE Saw label.
However this was *not* an Earl Zero album but was in fact an ultra rare killer dub album mixed by King Tubby, including dubs from Jacob Miller’s 'Tenement Yard' album plus tracks laid by Inner Circle/Fatman Riddim Section and others. The addition of Bernard 'Touter' Harvey's Moog synthesizer gave this album a distinctive and unusual sound.
The entire run of this LP has the incorrect Earl Zero labels, released in a plain sleeve, matrix etching:
EW-LP 301-A / EW-LP 301-B.
I'd describe this copy as being in Very Good condition, although as you can see someone has scratched out the year of publishing on both labels. Grading these original Jamaican pressings for audio quality is very difficult as they were often pretty crackly even from new. Visually it's pretty clean and scratch-free, and plays well. This contains (randomly chosen) extracts of tracks 1, 3 and 5 from Side A, and tracks 1, 4 and 6 from Side B, including some inter-track surface noise. No digital processing has been applied to the audio at all – it's a direct recording from vinyl to computer, encoded and uploaded. A listen to this will tell you far more than any description in words.
The LP on offer here is notable because it's the actual copy used to master the Motion Records re-issue of this album from 2006, under the name 'King Tubby Meets Jacob Miller In A Tenement Yard'. The cover of the 2006 CD is shown above, but is for information only. This auction is for an original copy of EE Saw Dub', in a plain white card sleeve, exactly as it was released.
