Very rare 16'' Record - 'Armed Forces Radio Service'.

I am selling this rare record on behalf of an elderly retired friend who throughout his career has had (& still does have) much contact with & is well respected by the entertainment industry both in the UK & the USA. He has given me part his rare precious record collection to auction on ebay (I have full authority from him to do this).

Depending on how much interest this one receives I intend to list others from the same collection.

 

Issued by The War & Navy Department (USA) for the use of the Armed Forces Radio Service (1940's 2nd World War).

 

Major Glenn Miller & AAFTC Orchestra.

 

This was issued to be broadcast to American service personnel serving overseas during the 2nd World War, to entertain them & keep them up to date with the most popular Big Band music sounds from back home.

 

This record has a diameter of 16'' (inches) so will need a deck that will accommodate it. The speed is 331/3 rpm.

 

It has been well looked after over the decades & is in good condition for it's age,  with some of the usual surfaces scratches & I am assured that it plays well. The centre label is also in good condition & is easily read (see photos). The sleeve (also good) is basic & looks original but I can't guarantee that it is.
