Grading - German

Mint : Absolut perfektes, ungespieltes Exemplar / Perfect, unplayed copy
Near Mint:Fast perfekt . Platte und Cover sehen absolut top aus. Ganz ganz wenige, vereinzelte kleine Hairlines können bei genauester Überprüfung des Vinyls festgestellt werden.
Generell sollte eine „Near Mint“ Schallplatte so aussehen, als hätten sie sie gerade frisch im Plattenladen gekauft, die Folie abgemacht und sie 1-2 Mal gehört.
Excellent (EX):  Nicht ganz so super wie „Near Mint“, aber in sehr gutem gebrauchten Zustand. Man sieht der Platte an, dass der Vorbesitzer sie gut behandelt hat. Einige Hairlines und leichte Gebrauchsspuren wie sie klassich beim Rein- und Rausschieben der Platte aus der Hülle und beim sorgsamen Gebrauch im Laufe der Zeit entstehen, können vorhanden sein, aber KEINE großen oder tiefen Kratzer. Der Klang darf davon nicht beeinträchtigt sein! Die Gebrauchsspuren sind vereinzelt und gering, jedoch eindeutig vorhanden, was die Platte unmöglich als „Near Mint“ durchgehen lässt.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Generell deckt sich die Beschreibung mit der einer „EX“ Platte, aber die Gebrauchsspuren sind deutlicher und häufiger. Auch können vereinzelte deutlichere Kratzer zu sehen sein, die jedoch nicht dazu führen dürfen, dass die Platte hängt oder springt. Der Klang kann an manchen Stellen, zwischen den einzelnen Liedern oder vor allem in extrem ruhigen Passagen leichte Beeinträchtigungen aufweisen. Das Cover kann deutliche Gebrauchsspuren aufweißen wie z.B. angestoßene Ecken oder "Ringwear".
Very Good (VG) :Generell deckt sich die Beschreibung mit der einer „VG+“ Platte, aber die Gebrauchsspuren sind hier schon mehr als deutlich. Mehrere deutlichere oder große Kratzer sind auf dem Vinyl zu sehen und der Klang kann durch "Knistern" oder "Knacksen" auch über weite Strecken hin beeinträchtigt sein. Die Platte darf trotzdem auf keinen Fall hängen oder springen !!!!!! Good (G): „Good” does not mean Bad! Aber annährend! Auch eine Platte die als „Good“ gekennzeichnet ist muss durchlaufen ohne zu hängen oder zu springen, aber der optische Zustand sowie der Klang ist stark beeinträchtigt. Durchgängiges Hintergrundrauschen, Knacksen oder Ähnliches können vorkommen. Das Cover hat extrem viele deutliche Gebrauchsspuren oder Beschädigungen wie Abrisse, durchstoßene Seiten und Kanten. Poor (P): Ist wirklich nicht mehr als schön zu bezeichnen. Eigentlich sollte man solche Platten höchstens als Lückenfüller in der Sammlung benutzen, bis man ein besseres Exemplar bekommt. Eine „Poor“ LP kann auch hängen, springen oder der Klang so stark beeinträchtigt sein, dass es keine Freude mehr ist, sie zu hören.

Neu / New = New and unplayed copy

Mint: Absolutely perfect in every way.

Near Mint:Almost perfect . Record and cover should look and play as if the item was just bought and only used 1-2 times. No visible signs of use, except 1 or 2 minimal hairlines that can be noticed only by taking a detailed and close look.

Excellent (EX): Not as perfect as Near Mint, but in very good used condition. It is obvious that the pre-owner took good care of the item. Some very light "classical "signs of use or hairlines can appear from taking the record in and out of the cover or constant use over many years, BUT no large or deep scratches are allowed ! record must play without any problems or affection of sound quality. Compared to a VG+ record, an EX item does not have seam split and the signs of use must be very few .

Very Good Plus (VG+): Generally the same as EX but item can have more and more significant signs of use. Cover can show signs from storage on corners or spine or slight ringwear. Few light scratches can appear on the record, but those must not affect the play. Record must play without problems, no skipping or constant clicks or crackles are allowed to appear during the listening but can appear in extremely quit parts or between the songs.

Very Good (VG) : Generally the same as VG+ , but with more than just a few signs of use. More than just 1 or 2 larger scratches can appear on the record and the general "look" of the item is not as good as a VG+ item. Sound quality can affected also during longer parts , BUT record must play through without skipping or jumping.

Good (G): „Good” does not mean Bad! But almost :-) ! A record graded as Good (G) must also play though without skipping or jumping, but the sound and the general appearance of the item is strongly affected. Cover can show lots of seam split, strong ringwear, discoloration, small damages from price stickers or can be stamped.

Poor (P): Well... not to be called a NICE item anymore. Should only be used to fill the gap in a collection untill a better copy appears. Record can skip or jump, cover can have all sorts of damages (water damage, large damage from price stickers, cut-outs.....)
