Description
Wow, check this out: a seven inch Victor announced record, pre dog label A-722. An unnamed choir sings "Jesus, Lover of My Soul", with organ. Very nice singing, quite enjoyable. The record plays with considerable surface noise, but the music comes through. Record back has a small "A-150" mark, look at top of third picture, I don't know what this means. Victor started using this style label in December 1900, so this is from mid 1901: guide book says Victor issued record A-1011 by October 1901. Price was 50 cents, same as Edison charged at that time for a 2 minute cylinder record. In 1901, many more people had cylinder machines than disc phonographs. This is early disc history, less than a year after the last Berliner 7 inch records! Very rare, if this is what you like, do not pass it up!
