Description
Very rare Victor Demonstration record supplied to dealers to show off new phonographs and the constantly improving recording techniques. The sides are: Don't Be That Way, Benny Goodman and his Orchestra and A Gypsy Told Me, Larry Clinton Orchestra. Both of these sides had already been released on Victor (see picture of labels) i.e. Goodman: Victor 25792-A, Clinton:Victor 25800-B The condition of this record would easily be VG++ to E-- on both sides. Record has been professionally cleaned with a VPI record washer and plays perfectly, save for a few ticks and clicks. I acquired this many years ago from aVictor dealer when records stopped being sold in music stores. The Goodman side was recorded in New York, February 1938; the Clinton side was recorded in New York, February 1938. As to be expected, the sound is wonderful and the performances are solid. In my years of record hunting I've only seen one other of these discs offered for sale. Their pressing run was very small and, of course, they were not reissued. Original Victor Sleeve provided, however, while the same era, may not have been the sleeve that the recording came in.
This is part of a huge collection that I am trying to get posted on EBAY. Since there are now others posted from me, I will happy to combine orders to save shipping costs, since it costs very little more to ship six records as it does to ship one! Unless otherwise noted, records are shipped in plain manilla sleeves and shipped in heavy cardboard boxes with double pieces of cardboard top and bottom and the middle (if the the shipment is large enough) and packed with popcorn and/or bubble material.
