Victor Pikaizen (born February 15, 1933, Kiev) - Soviet violinist, laureate of international competitions, professor of the Moscow Conservatory.
He studied at the Music School at the Kiev Conservatory, in 1941-1944. - in evacuation in Alma-Ata, then - in the Moscow secondary special music school named after Gnesins in the class of David Oistrakh. Pikaisen studied with Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory, and graduated from graduate school in 1960. He is the only student of Oistrakh who completed his studies from school to the end of graduate school.
Victor Pikaizen remains of the great unsung artists of the Soviet era who remained very much in the shadows of Oistrakh and Kogan. One can only hope that – as with Oistrakh, Kogan, Tretyakov, and others – more archival material will surface or that Melodiya in particular will turn its attention to a comprehensive re-issue of Pikaizen's wonderful discography, which includes masterly renditions of Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, Beethoven's Violin Concerto, and much, much more.
The remarkable violinist Ilya Gringolts, in conversation with fellow violinist Laurie Niles, has spoken of Pikaizen’s influence here: “As much as Ruggiero Ricci deserves high respect, I must confess that his ( Ruggiero Ricci ) recordings of Paganini had soured me on the caprices for many years. It was the Viktor Pikaizen release in the 1960s of the 24 that first opened my eyes, ears and heart to this monumental set of musical works, for it fully convinced me that the caprices are full of what folks commonly refer to as "pretty melodies" and that they're soaked with true musicality.”
Pikaizen is one of the few who performed 78 times ( !!! ) all of Paganini's Caprices at various concerts.  The latter was in 2004 in Milan with great success. 
Here is brilliant performans of Paganini’s 24 Caprices Op. 1, recorded in Moscow and sounding superb here. This is truly exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the violin will find much to admire here.
