Description
The Bee Gee’s classic Stayin’Alive re-mixed by “M.C.” at famed New York City recording studio Sunshine Sound.
With expanded instrumental passages, the track clocks in at 9:56 minutes long. (For comparison, it runs 4:45 on the soundtrack LP and 6:55 on the 12" promo.) Label information is mechanically typewritten. Both the label and outer sleeve have 104 (as in bpm) handwritten on them, while the outer and inner sleeve carry handwritten titles and info. The outer sleeve is a white 12" cardboard case cut-down to size and sealed along one edge with masking tape.
This is an extremely rare disc. I’ve never seen another of its kind for sale in over 30 years of collecting.
One sided. Condition: VG+

From the site:
Sunshine Sound was a studio where DJ’s could bring their reel-to-reel tapes and have acetate copies cut one at a time. Many club DJ’s created their own mixes and wanted discs cut instead of using the tape so that they could mix into and out of the acetate platter. There was such a demand for some of these mixes that sometimes 10-25 copies (or more) were made and sold to outlets who did mail order and so they were distributed in NYC, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles. Two stores where Sunshine Sound acetates were sold in the late 70’s were Record Connection in Los Angeles and Downstairs Records in NYC.
