DESCRIPTION:

This is a vintage and historic "Porgy & Bess"(4) record album set of the original soundtrack of

George Gershwin's famous Broadway opera.

It was released by Decca Records around 1935

The album itself is great example of "Art Deco" design. The album cover even shows an actual "tinted" photograph

of a scene from the original New York broadway production stage set. The pictorial inside album cover shows photos

of the actual recording sessions, and studio members.

The complete set of four records include these selections:

Record 1 (Decca 29067):

       (A Side)  "Overture & Summertime"

(B Side)  "My Man's Gone Now"

Record 2 (Decca 29068):

       (A Side)  "I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin’ " (well-known hit)

       (B Side)  "Buzzard’s Song"

Record 3 (Decca 29069):

(A Side)  "Bess, You Is My Woman"

(B Side)  "It Ain't Necessarily So"

Record 4 (Decca 29070):

       (A Side)  The Requiem"

(B Side)  "Porgy's Lament and Finale"

As an almost 91 year old original records album, this album is in very good condition …

as shown in the eBay photos. The album "spine" is in excellent condition (nice and tight

with slight visible wear on the gold emboss text).

The (4) records have minor scratches and are playable.

This album was owned by a relative who was an audio-aficionado, and who owned very high-end

audio equipment to listen at the time, and who took exceptional care of his record collection.

The album has been shelf-stored for years (practically un-touched),

and in a completely smoke-free household.

Record play speed: 33 1/3 RPM

Album size: 14"L x 12 1/2"H x 1"W
