CHENEY  (England)
VINYL LP (12") STORAGE CASE
1950s/60s

Of striking design and patterning, a hard CHENEY vinyl record storage case with slightly domed top and rigid black vinyl studded corners. The external patterning is dark turquoise and black, and there is a silver-grey and white patterned lining. The handle is painted steel, and the catches and locks are made of silver-finish metal. The front clips and lock are marked 'CHENEY / ENGLAND'. The case is of generous size, with one compartment:

CONDITION 
The case is structurally sound without cracks or splits, and the handle is sound, too. The external finish is in very good condition, indeed, with just slight uniform age darkening and very minor superficial rubbing down one of the back corner edge seams (no peeling), and a few tiny flecks of rubbing elsewhere. The inside has some lost surface paper on the back left vertical joint (see photo above), some closed tearing along the back bottom horizontal joint, a couple of tiny bits of loss on one of the lid paper edges, and some areas of discolouration in the base. The front fasteners work well. The key is missing. All the metal fasteners and studs have surface tarnishing/rusting - I have given them a cursory clean but they can be improved further.
