Description
Here is a vintage copy of the LP: "Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Chicago". which was his last record on the Mercury label. Recorded on February 3, 1959 at Universal Recorders Studio B in Chicago, these musicians (with Bill Evans replacing Kelly on piano) would record the classic album Kind of Blue with Miles Davis, shortly after this session. I remember buying this record at a shop in Salt Lake City in 1981 & it's been in my collection ever since. I'm now editing my collection and letting some things go tome make more room.
Tracks: "Limehouse Blues" (Philip Braham, Douglas Furber) – 4:40 "Stars Fell on Alabama" (Mitchell Parish, Frank Perkins) – 6:15 "Wabash" (Adderley) – 5:46 "Grand Central" (Coltrane) – 4:33 "You're a Weaver of Dreams" (Jack Elliott, Victor Young) – 5:34 "The Sleeper" (Coltrane) – 7:13
Personnell: Cannonball Adderley – alto saxophone (except on #5) John Coltrane – tenor saxophone (except on #2) Wynton Kelly – piano Paul Chambers – bass Jimmy Cobb – drums
